BANBURY OPERATIC SOCIETY
BANBURY'S LONGEST RUNNING MUSICAL THEATRE SOCIETY
Banbury's longest running musical theatre group, Banbury Operatic Society, are an award-winning amateur musical society performing two shows a year or a show and a concert. Our repertoire ranges from Gilbert & Sullivan and light operetta through to West End and Broadway blockbuster musicals. Our most recent shows include Crazy for You, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Sister Act, Spamalot and Half a Sixpence. Our next production will be Ghost the Musical (postponed) and, for our 60th anniversary, we will be performing Kinky Boots in October 2021.
We also have an award-winning youth group - Youth of Banbury Operatic Society (YOBOS). Renowned for their ability to put on a whole musical in just one week, the group consists of 11 to 19 year olds with a passion for performance - both on stage and off. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, YOBOS have postponed their 2020 production but are thrilled to announce that, in 2021, they will be performing In the Heights. To get involved or learn more about the show, please visit their website using the menu link above.
Banbury Operatic Society and YOBOS are proud to be affiliated with NODA.
GHOST THE MUSICAL
A Statement from bOS
Following Government statements about precautions surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we are incredibly disappointed to announce that Banbury Operatic Society have now decided to postpone our Easter production of Ghost the Musical.
Tickets already purchased will be refunded automatically in the coming week. If you have any concerns about this, please contact us.
We are sure you will be just as disappointed to hear this decision as we were to make it. However, we will now endeavour to find a new date for Ghost, so the incredible work that has taken place over the past 5 months by our cast, crew and production team does not go to waste. Many thanks to everyone involved for your support during this process, and your understanding of why this decision had to be made.
The decision to postpone was discussed by the entire cast and team. However, in keeping with the spirit and ethos that has made Banbury Operatic Society such an important part of this community for the past 60 years (not to mention in the spirit of theatre itself), the cast and production team decided to sign off with a song as we attempted to keep our spirits up.
Ghost will rise again - and BOS lives on!
