A Night at the oscars

We’re back! After almost two years of being off-stage, Banbury Operatic Society (BOS) presents its October 2021 concert, ‘A Night at the Oscars’.

The production, under the talented production team of Joe Cummings (MD), Amelia Haverson (Choreographer), and Jonathan Rubery and Amanda Anderson (Co-Directors), ably assisted by David Hornsby (Production Assistant), will take place at Wykham Theatre, Wykham Park Academy, Ruskin Road, Banbury OX16 9HY, at 7.30pm nightly, from Thursday 28th through to Saturday 30th October 2021 If you’d like to be involved, rehearsals start on Monday 23rd August, and auditions will be taking place on Sunday 5th September, at Christopher Rawlins School.

‘A Night at the Oscars’, which kicks off the 60th anniversary celebrations for BOS, will take you on a journey of music and dance inspired by the famous Academy Awards, affectionately known as ‘Oscars’. The cast will showcase a wide selection of songs inspired by the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Original Song and Best Picture categories, spanning 90 years of Oscars history. The concert will feature classic songs such as ‘Luck Be A Lady’ from Guys and Dolls, ‘Don’t Rain On My Parade’ from Funny Girl, ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ from ‘The Wizard of Oz’, and ‘California Dreamin’’ from Forrest Gump, plus a few medleys – who can resist Mamma Mia, Mary Poppins and a bit of Bond?! We promise to leave you shaken and stirred!

So, prepare for your red-carpet arrival, put on your finest, and come and join us for a night of glamour and glitz. You’re sure to leave with a spring in your step and singing the songs all the way home.
