A Night at the oscars

After almost two years of being off-stage, Banbury Operatic Society (BOS) returned in October 2021 for the concert, ‘A Night at the Oscars’.

The production, under the talented production team of Joe Cummings (MD), Amelia Haverson (Choreographer), and Jonathan Rubery (Director), ably assisted by David Hornsby (Production Assistant), took place at Wykham Theatre, Wykham Park Academy, Ruskin Road, Banbury OX16 9HY from Thursday 28th through to Saturday 30th October 2021

‘A Night at the Oscars’ kicked off the 60th anniversary celebrations for BOS and took audiences on a journey of music and dance inspired by the famous Academy Awards, affectionately known as ‘Oscars’. The cast showcased a wide selection of songs inspired by the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Original Song and Best Picture categories, spanning 90 years of Oscars history. The concert featured classic songs such as ‘Luck Be A Lady’ from Guys and Dolls, ‘Don’t Rain On My Parade’ from Funny Girl, ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ from ‘The Wizard of Oz’, and ‘California Dreamin’’ from Forrest Gump, plus a few medleys – who can resist Mamma Mia, Mary Poppins and a bit of Bond?!
